Javier Jaimovich

Researcher and sound artist based in Santiago, Chile. Javier holds a B.A. in Music Technology from Universidad de Chile, an M.A. and a Ph.D in Sonic Arts from the Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) at Queen’s University Belfast. His research interests encompass the development of Digital Musical Instruments (DMI), Music and Emotion, BioMusic and BioSignals, Interactive Sound Art and Interactive Systems. His creative practice draws from these themes to create interactive sound art installations and novel interactive performances that explore the interrelationships between art, science and new technologies.

Currently, Javier is an Associate Professor at the Sound Department of Universidad de Chile, where he teaches modules for the Sound Engineering and MA in Media Arts degrees. Dr. Jaimovich has worked in highly interdisciplinary projects both in the EU and in Chile, such as the EU FET Research Project SIEMPRE and as co-director of the artistic project Emovere.

Francisca Morand

Dance performer and choreographer, is also Assistant Professor at the Dance Department of the University of Chile. She holds a teaching degree in Dance from Universidad de Chile, an M.A. in dance from American University (2001) and is a certified Movement Analyst from the Laban-Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS), New York City. She began professionally as contemporary dance performer on independent companies in Santiago, and her fields of interest are Contemporary Techniques, Somatics applied to dance and Contact Improvisation. She began to develop in the field of choreography starting in 2001, participating and directing projects with several artists, such as Eduardo Osorio (MorandOsorio), Camilo Rossel (Melancolía Investigación Escénica) and Javier Jaimovich (Emovere).

Mónica Bate

Chilean visual artist, Assistant Professor and museum producer. She graduated from the Bachelor in Fine Arts program at the Universidad de Chile where she teaches nowadays. She has studied certificate programs in New Media Arts at Universidad de Chile, in Max/MSP Jitter at Harvestworks in New York City and at the (MPS) Interactive Telecommunications Program – ITP – New York University. Her creative work has been shown in Chile and other countries featuring projects such as Acoustic Views, the IS3 series, Strings and The Life of Crystals. She has written essays and articles for publications published by Universidad de Chile and has exhibited both in Chile and abroad, highlighting the Artificially Intelligent exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Biennial of Medial Arts and Reverberance at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago, the +CODE festival in Buenos Aires, Ars Electronica 2019 and the ISEA Symposium in Manizales.

Mónica is part of the Media MAC-Anilla team of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago and also of the board of Fundación Flores, an NGO dedicated to exploring the possible convergences between artistic and scientific practice.

Diego de la Fuente Curaqueo

Music composer, sound designer and multimedia developer born in Santiago de Chile in 1990. Thanks to the support of his family and the Pedro Humberto Allende Foundation, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition at the Universidad de Chile in 2014, specializing in music for audiovisual media and computer music. He has participated in several festivals and forums as electroacoustic music composer such as MUSLAB (Mexico), Cicada Consort (USA), Copiu (Chile) and Ceibo (Argentina). He has also worked in Media Arts festivals such as “Festival Lumen” (Punta Arenas) and the “Seminario de Artes Mediales” (Santiago). He currently teaches in areas such as Music Theory and Digital Audio while finishing his MA in Media Arts thesis project at Universidad de Chile, focused on music composition within media-based interactive projects.

Paulo Fernández Carroza

Visual Multimedia Artist, Degree in Arts (Universidad de Chile, 2001). Since 2002, his work has applied pictorial procedures to digital and video media, using the body and movement to investigate experimental, single-channel video exercises as well as video installation exercises for performance proposals. He has developed several projects funded by the National Council of Culture and the Arts (CNCA), most importantly “Mute (7 pieces of videodance)” (2010) and “Undo- Redo” (2013). In 2011 he made “Fauna” an experimental videodance supported by EMPAC Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center of New York (USA). With these and other pieces he has participated in several national and International festivals in the area of experimental video. In conjunction with the performance work of La Licuadora, he participated in “Pantografías” shown at FIDESP (2013 BR), and recently premiered “Ruido” at Santiago a Mil (2019 CL), Sziget Festival (2019 HU), Hiroshima (2019 BCN). He served as a teacher in the department of Art Direction at Universidad Mayor (2013 to 2015), and is currently linked to the development of audiovisual installation and multiprojection projects.

Isidora González

Visual Artist recently graduated from Universidad de Chile with a degree in Plastic Arts. Born in Coyhaique in 1997, not only has she developed in the visual arts, but she has also worked since 2016 in the digital music journalism medium Cancha General, as well as being an announcer for Radio JGM at Universidad de Chile. Recently, she has exhibited her photographs “Retratos Líquidos” at the Posada del Corregidor under the call of Santiago Arte Joven.

Franco Mella

Bachelor of Arts in Sound, currently working on his thesis to graduate from Sound Engineering at Universidad of Chile. He is currently working as Teaching Assistant for Calculus 3 and 4 courses in the Sound Department and as a Technical Assistant in the interdisciplinary research group Emovere for the “Fragile Intersections” project.

Rocío B. Ortega

Bachelor of Arts with mention in Sound from Universidad de Chile. She has worked in the area of musical production and as technical assistant in the interdisciplinary project “Fragile Intersections”, using tools such as Pro Tools, Max/MSP and KiCad. She is currently working on her thesis leading to the Sound Engineering degree from Universidad de Chile, relating haptics, music, sound and deafness.

Carolina Cortés

Studied Dance Performance at Universidad de las Americas UDLA, Instructor of Integral Yoga and Pilates certified in Buenos Aires and Master of Arts in Theater Practices, PUC. She has worked in the field of body research as a performer and as a director of creative projects. Her topics of interest are related to the historical experience that emerges from the body through movement patterns in front of different stimuli: sound, visual, and verbal. From there, she is interested in the inclusion of interdisciplinary scenic practices in which corporality dialogues reciprocally with technological devices of diverse nature. Along the same lines and in parallel, she has worked in the management and production of performing arts for Melancolía Investigación Escénica and Emovere Project. Currently and since 2008, she co-directs the consulting firm “Vivo el Cuerpo,” carrying out workshops of self-healing, Yoga, contemporary dance, meditation and somatic practices.
